Sullivan County Youth Book Festival
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When is the Festival held?
A: The Sullivan County Youth Book Festival (SCYBF or Festival) is held in the
spring every other year. The most recent Festival was held on May 19th, 2024,
and the next Festival is scheduled for May 30th, 2026.
Q: Where is the Festival held?
A: The Festival is held outdoors in the county seat of Sullivan County,
Monticello, New York, at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library. The address
is 479 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701.
Q: Who can participate in the Festival?
A: Author and illustrator participation is by invitation only. If you would like to
be considered for a future festival, please contact us via the form on our
website, scybookfest.org.
Q: How do you choose who to invite?
A: Authors and illustrators with works published within 2 years of, but not
past, the current Festival date, and those who live within 3 hours of the
location will be included. We strive to select authors and illustrators that
reflect the diverse nature of Sullivan County.
Q: Can self-published authors/illustrators participate?
A: Due to vendor restrictions, we restrict participation to those with
traditionally published works. Self-published authors/illustrators may be
considered if certain criteria can be met.
Q: Is the Festival only for buying books?
A: Not at all! We always plan other fun activities for families to engage with. Be
sure to check out our website closer to the event to see the full schedule.
Q: Will there be food and/or drinks available?
A: We always supply a map of the local restaurants for you to find
refreshments close by and we’re hoping to expand to include food truck
vendors in 2026!
